The term "palliative" derives from the Latin word "pallium," which translates to "cloak" or "covering." The philosophy of palliative care is to metaphorically cover with a cloak, creating conditions for those who are left "cold and unprotected." From a medical perspective, it aims to alleviate symptoms of chronic illness, ensuring patients do not face their condition alone.

In January 2024, modern cosmetic repairs were completed in the premises, and the material base of the department was improved. Air conditioners were installed in the wards, funded by the Nemiriv City Council.

The Palliative Care Unit was opened and has been operational since February 2024. It accommodates 20 beds and is staffed by two doctors and four nurses. The medical staff underwent training courses to work in the department.

Patient rooms are mostly double-occupancy, with single and family rooms also available. The team of specialists providing palliative medical care has been reorganized into a multidisciplinary team, led by the well-known anesthesiologist Valeriy Kolosyuk in Nemiriv.

Four nurses oversee patient care, with a housekeeping nurse ensuring the department is adequately stocked with medical supplies.

The department is equipped with necessary inventory and equipment. The senior nurse in charge of the department ensures the availability of necessary medications.

Patients from both our community and neighboring areas are admitted to the palliative care unit.

Information on patient referral procedures and required preliminary examinations can be obtained from your family doctor.
